The iconic Cafe Rouge where job are at risk.

The owner of high street restaurant chains Café Rouge and Bella Italia has gone to the High Court to file its intent to call in the administrators, surely risking jobs.

Owner Casual Dining Group, which employs some 6,000 people who are surely facing employment uncertainty, said the move should give the company a 10-day breathing space to consider the restructuring options available.

The company, which also owns the Las Iguanas chain, had been working with advisers AlixPartners, but a spokeswoman for the group said: “These notifications are a prudent measure in light of the company’s position and the wider situation.”

It remains to be seen if all of the employee jobs will be at risk.
