In times of crisis, we can all make mistakes. Anyone, from history’s greatest leaders to a trainee that started yesterday, has made mistakes under pressure. We now find ourselves in a time of unprecedented national crisis, which puts every one of us under great pressure. Businesses and livelihoods are threatened – we are here to endeavour to help you not to make unnecessary mistakes so hopefully we can get through this together.
I’ve made mistakes too. But I’ve spent my whole career trying to learn from them and from the mistakes of those around me so I can try to help you not to make the same ones. If everyone in business was perfect, wouldn’t we all have seen the current world events coming or reacted to them quicker? Should we have been able to foresee an eventuality such as this? How could we have been better prepared? From my discussions with business owners over the last few months you won’t be surprised to hear that no one has said “I saw this coming and I was completely prepared for it”. How businesses react to this pandemic will be recorded and analysed for years to come. How your own business reacts and moves forward will be your choice, but wouldn’t it be great if you can learn from others and help others to learn.
Being open-minded, prepared and willing to adapt to the changing environment that is ahead of us all will be crucial. Please use this site to learn from the experiences of others and to share your own experiences. Learning is the key – take a look at our case studies. Every business we have spoken to has been given the choice to stay anonymous. Some have taken that option and we respect their decision. Where we can, we hope to be able to re-visit these businesses that have kindly contributed and follow their progress; this is of course optional for them and any future contributors. If you would like to share your story, please get in touch – you could be helping other businesses by doing so. Together, we will emerge from this crisis stronger than ever.
